FAQ CAR IMPORT FROM USA


I have bought a car and want to ship it to Germany, what shall I do?
Call us (ph. +49 471 / 948 16-51) and tell us if we must pick up your car from the seller's location or if you want to arrange delivery to the port yourself. You may ask the seller if he would bring the car to the port. We will tell you, which details and documents are required and will make necessary arrangements to start the transport process.


Is it possible to ship the car with a full gasoline tank?
No, the gas tank shall not filled more than ¼, exceeding volume will be exhausted.


Will the car be shipped inside a container?
Yes, we usually ship inside consolidated (shared) 40' containers. Other options are Rollon/Rolloff (like a ferry) or a single 20' container exclusively for your car.


Which shipping ports are used?
Our main ports are New York, Miami, Houston, Los Angeles and Oakland (San Francisco). It is not necessary to bring the car to the port, we can pick it up at any location inside the USA.


Which documents are required?
Our local warehouse needs the original title for the car as soon as possible, as well as a copy of the bill of sale. Shipping with these documents is not possible. In case you want to deliver the car to the port/warehouse yourself you can hand over the documents directly to the staff of the warehouse. If you booked a shipment including pick up at the seller's location by truck it is the obligation of the seller to send the title and bill of sale by courier's mail to our US-warehouse.


When will my car be picked up from the seller?
Pick up will typically be accomplished within 1 week after getting your shipping order.


Do I need an insurance for the shipping?
The transport is not insured unless you are ordering a marine insurance. We recommend to cover at least the risk of total loss (theft, ship sinks, etc.). Cars not older than 5 years may also be insured all risk (damages), this includes a deductible of EUR 200,00.


How long does the complete transport to Germany take?
The average duration between shipping order and arrival is 3 to 6 weeks, depending on origin/port of shipment and availability of ship space.


When do I have to pay?
Shipment is payable completely in EURO after arrival in Bremerhaven in cash or prior pick up in Bremerhaven/door delivery by bank transfer to our account.


What happens when my car arrives in Bremerhaven?
After ship's arrival your car will be unloaded off the container and stored at the warehouse. You will be notified by us when your car is ready for pick up. It is also possible to deliver the car to you by truck if you don't want to come to Bremerhaven.
