VEHICLE TYPE
A pickup is usually classified by customs as a truck. Therefore, 22% duty and 19% import VAT (EUST) are incurred here.
For oldtimers that are at least 30 years old and in the original condition, the duty is completely eliminated. Only 7% reduced import sales tax is payable. Unfortunately, Hot Rods and Replicas do not benefit from this low-cost special arrangement.
Normal cars handled with the usual 10% customs and 19% import sales tax.
TRANSPORT INSURANCE
An all-risk insurance covers the risks of total loss (such as shipwreck) and damage (such as dents). This insurance can only be covered for vehicles up to the age of 5 years.
A total loss insurance covers the risk of a total loss (theft or sinking of the ship), but no damage. With the total loss insurance there is no age restriction.
The cost of a ready-to-fit refitting of the car depends on the vehicle type. Common models are between € 900, - and € 2,000, -.
