FAQ – OLDTIMER IMPORT – OLDTIMER SHIPPING

I PURCHASED AN OLDTIMER OR YOUNGTIMER OVERSEAS (eg USA, CANADA, BRAZIL, JAPAN) AND WANT IT TO BE SHIPPED TO GERMANY, WHAT NOW?

Call us Tel.: +49 471/9481650 and let us know if we should pick up your import classic car from the seller or if you would like to deliver it yourself to our warehouse in the port of shipment. Alternatively, you can ask the seller to bring the vehicle to the port. We tell you what data we need for the car shipping and then arrange the transport.

CAN THE PURCHASE PRICE BE PAID TO THE SUPPLIER BY LPL AUTOMOTIVE GMBH?

Yes, we support you in securing payments abroad. For our customers of classic vehicles we offer our escrow service. The payment of the purchase price is made in this model against goods or documents.

WHICH DOCUMENTS ARE NEEDED FOR ORDER DISTRIBUTION?

With the shipping order, we need as soon as possible the original "Title" or vehicle registration document for your classic, as well as a copy of the purchase contract (Bill of Sale).

DO YOU ALSO OFFER THE VEHICLE PICKUP FROM THE SELLER?

Of course, we get in cooperation with our local partners and pick up your US vintage car from the seller. Our agents contact the seller in advance to organize vehicle transport. The pre-roll usually lasts no more than a week.

WHAT SHIPPING PORTS CAN BE USED FOR IMPORTS OF OLDTIMERS?

Basically, we offer all geographically favored and most frequented ports worldwide. For example, US classic car imports are made through all major ports in North America: New York, Miami, Houston, Los Angeles and Oakland / San Francisco. In addition to classic car shipping from Japan, we also offer the west and east coasts of Canada, Mexico and Brazil.

HOW IS MY ORLDTIMER SHIPPED?

Usually the shipments of Oldtimers are done in the 40'collective container. The costs and damage risks are kept as low as possible with this means of transport.

For particularly valuable vehicles, an exclusive transport in the 20'Container is possible for an extra charge.

As an alternative to container shipping, we also offer vintage car shipping on car ferries (Ro/Ro).

MAY THE FUEL BE FULL DURING THE OLDTIMER SHIPPING?

No! When shipping historic vehicles, the tank may only be filled to a maximum of ¼. With larger contents it is to be expected that the surplus will be sucked off and disposed at the warehouse.

MAY PERSONAL OBJECTS AND BUDGET GOODS BE LOADED?

Yes! For this only an exact packing list in German, as well as the pertinent bills is needed. Alcohol or food may not be imported!

DO YOU RECOMMEND A TRANSPORT INSURANCE?

For Old- and Youngtimer and valuable vehicles no matter what age the conclusion of a transport insurance is recommended in any case, even if vintage car imports are very safe, and damages are only exceptions. The collectors and collector's items are not automatically insured, but a corresponding insurance can be optionally completed against damage (all risk) or total loss. We are happy to help!

WHEN DO I PAY THE COST OF MY OLDTIMER IMPORT?

The total costs have to be paid upon arrival in Bremerhaven. The US $ portion of the freight is converted into EUR at an official shipping rate. Payment can be made either cash upon pickup or by prior transfer. Credit card payment is not possible.

HOW LONG DOES THE VEHICLE TRANSPORT TO BREMERHAVEN TAKE?

The duration varies depending on the port of shipment and the availability of the ship's space. From North and South America the transport time of classical cultural goods is between 3 and 6 weeks.

WHAT HAPPENS AFTER ARRIVAL IN BREMERHAVEN?

After the ship has docked in Bremerhaven, your collector's item will be unloaded from the container, stored and duty paid after consultation with you.

DOES MY OLDTIMER IMPORT HAVE TO BE SHIPPED TO ROTTERDAM IN ORDER TO BE INTRODUCED FREE OF CHARGE?

No, the vintage car shipment can also be done via Bremerhaven. This is usually even cheaper, faster and less inconvenient. Communication problems can be excluded from the outset.

WHAT ARE THE REQUIREMENTS FOR A CUSTOMS FREE OLDTIMER IMPORT?

The vehicle must be at least 30 years old and in good original condition. In addition to duty-free, a reduced rate of import tax (7% instead of 19%) is also possible. So-called hot rods and replicas can not be introduced at a discount. The final decision whether an import classic car meets the requirements described is incumbent on the European customs authorities.

WHAT IS A CLEARANCE CERTIFICATE?

You will receive the clearance certificate from us and will be required later for the approval of the classic car.

WHOM CAN I ORDER WITH THE REFITTING AND APPROVAL?

Our local partners in Bremerhaven offer retrofits including registration of historically valuable automobiles. It is explicitly paid attention to the preservation of the original condition.
