It is an upward trend that European merchants, importers and private persons are buying more and more used cars, one year-old used cars, modern-era classic cars and classic cars from Japanese auto-auctions, online trading-platforms or directly from a Japanese car dealer or exporter. Especially re-importing of German cars like Porsche, Mercedes-Benz and BMW became more and more popular. Used cars from Japan are known to be well-kept and can be purchased reasonably priced.
The shipment from Japan to Germany will be arranged by RoRo-ferries or inside containers.

You have already purchased a car
Our ALL-INCLUSIVE service includes the complete transport chain from Japan to your door.
In case the Japanese seller has arranged the shipment himself we will be able to act as your receiving and customs agency in Germany. Please send us your freight documents and we will take care of the rest. Sellers can send all documents directly to us or LPL Automotive can be inserted as the so called “notify party” into the freight document (Bill of Lading). If this happens, we will be able to inform you about the ship’s arrival. Of course, all services are also available for Austrian, Suisse, Benelux and other European customers.

Most cars in Japan are sold on the big online auctions. Access to these auctions will be arranged by specialized brokers, which will bid in your name and buy the car in case your maximum bid is sufficient.
With the help of our Japanese partners, we are able to procure access to these auctions for you.
SEARCHING FOR CARS ON JAPANESE CAR-AUCTIONS
With your password you have online access to all vehicles which will be offered for sale on Japanese car-auctions within the next few days.
A description is available for all cars, which is helpful to get a rough idea of the car’s overall condition. Additionally, you will have access to photos and in most cases a detailed inspection report about damages. Please note that you will not have the possibility to inspect the car yourself.
FEES AND COSTS AFTER SALE
After a successful bid you will have to pay an “auction-fee” and the shipping costs to Bremerhaven. In Bremerhaven obligatory import costs will arise, such as unloading, duty and VAT. Duty and VAT amount depend on the value of the car, for questions please contact us.
PAYING PURCHASE PRICE VIA LPL AUTOMOTIVE’S ACCOUNT
For customers who don’t feel comfortable with transferring the purchase price overseas we provide the possibility to use our bank account to wire the payment. Simply pay purchase price and all related fees to our German account and we will pass it on by same-day transfer. LPL Automotive GmbH will not become a purchase contract partner via this transaction.

We provide solely assistance in transacting the purchase and logistic services followed by this purchase. LPL Automotive GmbH will become neither buyer nor seller of auctioned vehicles. We are not part of the purchase contract and take no responsibility or warranty for delivery or vehicle’s condition. Vehicles will not be inspected by us or our partners, but solely by responsible Japanese auctioneers. We are liable only according to standard German forwarder terms and conditions, Allgemeine Deutsche Spediteurbedingen (ADSp), version 2017. All information is subject to change.

We collect the cars from you in Germany and load them in Bremerhaven on Ro-Ro ships or in containers. In addition to the actual shipping to the main ports in Japan, the entire customs clearance including export declaration and freight documentation is part of our service.
Your export vehicles can also be temporarily stored with us until shipment. Additional services such as vehicle cleaning and preparation prior to loading are offered. Optionally, we are happy to cover a transport insurance for you. Depending on the agreement with your customer, there is also the possibility that the recipient will pay the freight costs in Japan.
